Council to Work with Library Board to Revitalize Branches
In response to the New Tecumseth Library Board’s recent move to reduce operating hours at the Tottenham Branch, Mayor Mike MacEachern on behalf of Town Council is affirming Council’s commitment to work with the New Tecumseth Public Library Board to increase the use of the libraries by our residents through the revitalization of the Town’s Library services at all three Branches in Alliston, Beeton and Tottenham.
Tottenham’s hours, which were reduced to more accurately reflect its clients’ use patterns, will be reviewed again in late December to assess the results of our revitalization efforts. There is no plan to close any Branch of the New Tecumseth Public Library.
Watch for exciting new changes at our Library, including OverDrive Digital Library (late October 2007), wireless access (late 2007), new materials, improved signage and a fresher, more welcoming environment.
If you have not had a chance to visit one of the Library’s Branches, we encourage you to do so. Membership is free to all residents of New Tecumseth. The Library offers a wide range of children’s programs, online research resources, Internet access workstations and, of course, many books, periodicals, audiobooks and movies. For more information, please visit the Library’s web page at www.ntpl.ca or phone your local Branch.
